Hey there, Reader!
I wanted to share something Denis Morton said on a recent Peloton ride that resonated with me big time:
“We’re practicing serenity under duress.”
That line explains exactly why I keep coming back to physical challenges like hiking, endurance events, and long training days. I’m building resilience in the form of physical and mental endurance in the process.
Every time I choose something hard and stay calm in the middle of it, when I coach myself through the urge to quit, when I breathe through the burn, I’m putting in reps.
Physical AND emotional reps.
When life gets hard (as it always does), I already have the evidence that I can get through it. I know what to do. I know how to hold steady, because I’ve practiced.
That’s what this week’s podcast episode is all about:
🎙️Episode 105: Choosing Hard Things on Purpose
We’re talking about physical challenges as a way to build emotional resilience, the mindset shifts that happen when you stop avoiding hard things, and how you can use your own past challenges as proof that you can keep going.
This is a reminder I needed to give myself today, and if you’re in a tough season or craving more inner strength, I hope this one is just what you need too.
If you’re looking for something to shake things up a bit…
Choose a challenge this summer that helps you grow into the next version of yourself.
It doesn’t have to be extreme. It just has to ask something more of you and remind you what you’re capable of.
Have an amazing week!

With love,
Adrienne
