Hi! I'm Adrienne.

Overwhelm Isn’t a Sign of Failure—It’s a Call for Change

Hey there, Reader!

Overwhelm started creeping in this past week as I got back to my routines following my trip to Tahoe. I reminded myself that I’m not available for overwhelm, and I quickly looked at my schedule and removed anything that didn’t need to be on it. If anything new came in for the last week, it was a no for me.

Overwhelm and the power of no

Life has a way of piling things on, especially when we’re already juggling grief, transitions, or big changes. But here’s the truth: overwhelm isn’t a sign of failure. It’s a signal that something needs to change.

The best part?

You have the power to make those changes.

When we simplify, we’re not just doing less—we’re creating more space for what matters. But sometimes, that means setting boundaries, and saying “no” without guilt.

Start setting boundaries (without the guilt):

1️⃣ Identify what’s currently draining your energy.

2️⃣ Clarify what matters most to you and align your boundaries with those priorities.

3️⃣ Start practicing “no” with kindness and compassion for yourself and others. Examples:

  • I can’t commit to that right now, but thank you for thinking of me.
  • Thanks for the invite, but I won’t be able to attend.
  • I appreciate the opportunity, but I’m prioritizing time with my family right now. My no is not a reflection of you, but rather a reflection of the season of life I’m currently in. I hope to collaborate in the future!

4️⃣ Communicate your boundaries clearly, without feeling the need to explain or justify. Clear is kind!

5️⃣ Honor your boundaries consistently—because you deserve to protect your peace.

I dive into this more in Episode 81: Breaking the Cycle of Overwhelm: 5 Steps to Simplify Your Life and Find More Peace. If you’ve been feeling like you’re juggling too many things, or you struggle with saying no without the guilt, this episode is for you.

On my Substack this past week, I shared my thoughts on a very personal topic—choosing not to have children—and the questions that still linger. Check it out if you haven’t already, and please share it with anyone that may need to hear the message in that post... another new post will be released tomorrow!

As you go into this weekend, remember: you’re allowed to prioritize yourself, and you don’t need anyone’s permission to do it.

With love,

Adrienne
